SHEFFIELD – David M. Hastings is feeling nothing but love from the Southern Berkshire Regional School District.
On Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14), the SBRSD School Committee unanimously voted to offer the now-curriculum and professional development coordinator the job as superintendent starting July 1, pending contract negotiations.
“I’m so excited,” Mr. Hastings told The Beacon following the announcement.
The school committee’s decision was the culmination of a four-night interview process, which ended with an interview of Monson Public Schools Curriculum and Instruction Director Linda L. Carrier.
In a straw poll nonbinding vote by the school committee earlier in the evening, Ms. Carrier received four votes to Mr. Hastings’ six.
The other two candidates for the position were Turners Falls High School Principal Patricia E. Gardner and Tewksbury Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Patricia A. Lally.
