Lee wears down Turner Falls in second half, wins 55-41

The Wildcats had their hands full with the #10 seed Turner Falls Indians on Monday night. The Indians forced 15 first half Lee turnovers to earn a 31-31 tie at halftime.

However, Lee switched to a zone defense and curtailed Turner Falls outside shooting in the second half outscoring their opponents 24-10,  to win easily 55-41.

Lee kept themselves in the game in the first half thanks to the outside shooting of 1,000 point scorer Jake LeProvost who had 20 of his game high  24 points before intermission.

Lee’s second half scoring was lead by bulldog Heamon Williams who scored 13 of his 22 points in the final two frames; and a crucial seven points in the Wildcats third quarter where they outscored the Indians 14-5.

“I was disappointed in myself in the first half, so I came out in the second half with a concerted effort to control the boards and it worked out,” Williams said.

Nick Sitzer added six points in the second half, as Lee cut down on their turnovers against the Indians’ full court press, and was able to slow the game down in holding Turner Falls to only 10 second half points.

“We were really allowed to spread out our zone because they didn’t have a down low presence and we were able to get a hand in their face and fortunately they didn’t shoot the ball well in the second half,” said Lee head coach Dan Korte.

Next up for the Wildcats will be  #2 seed Granby  (17-3), they will host Lee on Thursday at 7 p.m.
