Lenox girl’s hoops easily advance to 2nd round, 57-21

This game was controlled by the Millionaires on the opening tip, as they jumped out to an early 19-0 lead in the first five minutes before cruising 57-21 over Franklin Tech.

Hayden Zinchuk had 12 points and 10 boards while fellow forward scorer Liz Mitts had 14 points, and hot shooting Kathy Prescott added 13 points including a couple of three-pointers to help the Millionaires build an early 38-8 halftime lead.

Lenox will most likely play Gateway Regional on Friday night in Lenox, with the winner most likely earning a shot at the number one seed Sabis (21-1) in Amherst the following week.

Despite the lack of competition tonight, Lenox head coach Nicole Patella thinks her girls are ready for the next two games especially if Jen Delasco can return to the lineup after missing most of the season with an injury and a school trip overseas.

“We really had some good practices during the break and we had some alumni come back (to help) so I like the way we are running are sets and shooting the ball,” Patella said.
