It was perfect weather this past weekend for the people to share in Lee’s Founder’s Day and Lenox’s Apple Squeeze.
Promoters were happy with the huge turnout in Lenox, where crowds of people filled Main Street and the historic district. Vendors and non-profit groups were able to solicit for their items and promote their causes.
The air was chilled with the excitement of summer appearing over or at least until Indian summer arrives to make the days bright, sunny and warm.
The turnout seemed unusual to this observer, noting Lee was functioning in high gear in celebration of its heritage.
What continues to be a question is why the two promotions can’t be on alternate weekends.
There seems to be some thought the people from Lee would enjoy the Apple Squeeze while the people from Lenox would be inclined to learn about Lee’s heritage. And those from Pittsfield and the rest of Berkshire County could have twice the “joy and involvements” on two different weekends. Something to consider by each community’s chamber of commerce.
Meanwhile, there was music in the air in both communities and The Berkshire Beacon is not just limiting its thoughts to musicians.
