Weekend sports roundup: high school and college football scores

High school football

The biggest surprise of the weekend had  Todd Tinker’s Monument Mountain Spartans upset the Pittsfield High Generals 32-22, behind MM’s sophomore running back Malik Wilbon. Wilbon rushed for 177 yards on 16 carries, including a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown. The win moves the Spartans to 1-3 and the Generals drop to 1-3.

In Lee, Taconic took advantage of a decimated Lee offensive line, as the injury bug continues to haunt the Wildcats as offensive and defensive line star Vinny Onorato went down with an injury. The Braves won easily 20-0. The Wildcats are now 1-3 overall, while the Braves moved to 2-2.

The Mounties also continue to dominate the county in football as they moved to 4-0 with an easy 30-0 win over Hoosac.

College football

Williams College squandered a 13-3 lead at halftime, to drop an important league tilt with perennial power Trinity, 17-13. Eph’s quarterback Adam Marske was brilliant in the first half, throwing for almost 200 yards; however, Williams could only garner 10 net yards of offense in the second half.

Trinity utilized their spread offense to run the ball effectively, especially in the second half for the crucial comeback win.
