PITTSFIELD – After a unanimous vote, the Pittsfield School Committee has hired Future Management Systems, Inc. to assist in its new superintendent search.
For the unsuccessful search the committee did earlier this year, the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) was hired to help out.
William Garr, a senior consultant with FMS, gave a presentation to the committee at a recent meeting. The company, based in Beverly, Mass., was one of three the committee chose from to assist in the new search.
“I think they had the best presentation and they did their homework,” School Committee Member Terry M. Kinnas said.
The next steps for the committee and FMS include forming a superintendent search committee and posting the job. The committee has set a March 1 deadline to find a new superintendent; Mr. Garr hopes to have someone hired as early as January.
