Welcome to Berkshire Beacon Hill Spotlight, our new column on state and local government and politics. Each week we’ll be offering information and insight on the policies and politics that affect you, the trends and issues at the State House and city and town halls, how common interests lead to intergovernmental collaboration and regionalization, and the elected and appointed officials who make our government work.
We hope to provide a unique perspective and give readers something to think about, to help generate public discussion on a variety of issues.
Joining our team to write this column is Bruce A. Garlow, a Berkshire County resident for over 35 years. Bruce is the retired administrator in the Town of Richmond, veteran elected moderator in his hometown of Becket and served as district legislative aide to former state Rep. Christopher J. Hodgkins (D-Lee).
He has held leadership positions in the Small Town Administrators of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Moderators Association, is a longtime political and community activist and has written for two other Berkshire County weeklies.
