SHEFFIELD – There will soon be new leadership at the Bushnell-Sage Library.
Nancy Hahn has announced her resignation after 11 years of service as the director.
“It is with mixed emotions and some sadness that we accept this resignation,” said Selectwoman Julie M. Hannum.
The library trustees and the town will now begin the search to fill the post that Ms. Hahn will leave on Dec. 14.
The friends of the library will be announcing plans for a reception to honor Ms. Hahn in the coming week.
Winter contracts
With winter fast approaching, the town awarded several contacts for winter road care.
The town awarded Clayton Haven and Arthur Matthew for $60 an hour to plow in the town during winter storms.
The joint sand purchase for the towns of Sheffield and Great Barrington was awarded to Jay Donovan and Son for $10.40 a ton. This is for the sand to be used on the roads of both towns.
Senior center news
The Sheffield Senior Center will be hosting a listening session at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13 entitled “Needs of Elders.” This session will be led by Louisa Weeden, planning and development specialist from elder services.
The state wants to know what seniors themselves think are the most pressing unmet needs of seniors. The public is encouraged to attend and participate in this discussion.
A potluck lunch will be held on Nov. 15 starting at noon. After announcements, attendees will enjoy a few rounds of bingo.
