Lenox Chamber of Commerce webpage to feature non-chamber members

LENOX – A long-time promise of the Lenoxology campaign is set to be fulfilled by the Lenox Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber has agreed to place the information of any Lenox business on its website’s phone book page free of charge. Requests to be placed on the phone book page will be honored regardless of whether or not a business is a chamber member.

“What the town asked the chamber to do was…could we accommodate what the town promised on the Discover Lenox website,” said Lenox Chamber of Commerce Director Ralph Petillo in comments to The Beacon.

A phone book-style listing of all Lenox businesses was a feature promised on the Discover Lenox website, which was a key part of the Lenoxology marketing campaign. But with Lenoxology effectively mothballed and the Discover Lenox site moribund – it hasn’t been updated in months – putting together a list of all willing Lenox businesses on the site didn’t look like an attractive proposition to the selectmen.

Since Lenoxology was shelved, the board of selectmen has placed a greater emphasis on working together on marketing efforts with the chamber of commerce. They’ve also praised the chamber’s new website, designed by the Lenox-based firm Studio Two.

The selectmen asked the chamber whether they’d be willing to put a listing of all Lenox businesses on its site, and the chamber agreed. This was announced by Dir. Petillo at the selectmen’s Nov. 7 meeting.

“The chamber is very willing and able and ready to accept any business in Lenox to put on the phone directory page,” said Dir. Petillo.

In comments to The Beacon, he said any Lenox business could ask to have their names added to the chamber’s phonebook page free of charge until Jan. 1, 2013. The cost of having these non-chamber members on the site will be picked up by the town and the chamber for the first year, after which the arrangement will be re-examined.

Listings on the phone book page consist of a business’s name, phone number and address. Businesses are listed alphabetically.
