Lots of things to be grateful for

Thanksgiving is a special time of year for all of us to rejoice and count our blessings and be thankful with family and friends.

I am thankful for several things in my life:

-Continued good health after being hospitalized

-The election of President Barack Obama, with my condolences to the GOP (which has been slow to accept the vote) in its loss

-The fact I was able to put together a young editorial staff to produce a weekly newspaper in Berkshire County in this market and during this time is, in a word, phenomenal.

-There’s also the sales staff, who has yet to achieve their stride in advertising revenue, but have not given up making calls throughout Berkshire County to bring this weekly into your homes. For the combined staff, we are grateful.

-We are going against the tide of newspapers – some are folding or suspending part of their print operation – but we have a “family” at the Sun Chronicle in Attleboro and its owner, management team and the employees, who combined make us look good weekly.

Meanwhile, we collectively wish you and your family well this holiday and pause for a moment to acknowledge there have been many in the newspaper field that have retired or died. They helped set the tone of journalism for which we strive to be as good as or better in our weekly pursuit of community news and features.
