Book sale makes $8,063 for local library

PITTSFIELD – Nancy McNabb, chairperson of the Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum Book Sales, said the total amount of money made from the group’s November book sale was $8,063.

That was $2,000 more than what was made from last year’s sale, she said.

The total amount for 2012, from all three book sales, is $30,336, nearly $8,500 more than last year, Mrs. McNabb said.

“It is thanks to all of your dedicated hard work, organizing, sorting, pricing, neatening, etc.,” she wrote in a memo to volunteers.

The Friends is an all-volunteer organization which helps raise money to be used for library needs.

The $30,336 does not include money earned from the sale of books in the library’s lobby, Mrs. McNabb said. That will eventually be added.

Some of the small paperbacks left from the November sale went to the Berkshire County House of Correction.

Volunteers will continue to work on sorting books on Mondays and Wednesdays up to Christmas, Mrs. McNabb said.
