Pittsfield bank disperses football honors

PITTSFIELD – Pittsfield Cooperative Bank recently honored outstanding high school football players in a ceremony held at the Co-op location on South Street.

Jay Anderson, President of Pittsfield Cooperative Bank, presented trophies to seven players selected as Player-of-the-Game Award Winners.

The selected Player-of-the-Game for the Oct. 5 football game, was Jon Bianchi, a student at St. Joseph’s High School.

Honors for the Oct. 6 game went to Dominic Traversa of Pittsfield High. Kyle Shade, another PHS player, was selected at the Oct. 19 honoree.

On Oct. 26, St. Joseph’s Lavante Wiggins was selected Player-of-the-Game. Nov. 3 honors were awarded to Pat Latini, also of St. Joseph’s.

Devon Tucker of PHS was awarded the trophy for the Nov. 10 game.

Coby Gage, of Hoosac Valley High School rounded out the honors, picking up the trophy for the Nov. 17 game.

Mr. Anderson called it “his honor” to support high school athletics and said the bank is pleased to be able to contribute financially to the cause.

Checks were presented to the high school athletic departments in the amount of $100 per each student named Player-of-the-Game. PHS and St. Joseph’s both received checks from the Co-op in the amount of $300 each, while HVHS was given $100.
