Just some random recollections of Sandy (Hatch) Khoury

I probably hadn’t seen Sandy for a very long time until the funeral services for Karen Reilly back in July. Was taken back by how debilitated she was but greeted me with a smile.
About two weeks ago, I received a Christmas card from her and was touched she would make the effort to send me a card.
I’m not much on sending cards, but when I read the paper on Sunday I was glad I had made the effort to return the Christmas greeting.
Sandy and Fares were unique individuals.
I financed the purchase of the Tucker Street residence, a refinance of the Snack Shop building and Sir Anthony’s.
Sandy was always scrambling to meet the obligations the financing entailed.
At one point, legal notices were published on one of the properties and up to the date of the action,
Fares had no idea that there was any problems.
Through all our issues, I always knew Sandy’s heart was in the right place. If she was wrong, she gave me a hundred different reasons why she was in a particular predicament. If the bank was wrong, she let me know in no uncertain terms.
Finally, she shared the same birthday as my wife and second. They took a trip to Australia about 25 years ago.
When they returned they brought me a souvenir clock in the shape of Australia.
I have never displayed it prominently but have kept it for the past 25 years. I guess I was touched by the thoughtfulness.
