PITTSFIELD – Tomorrow (Jan. 4), welcome 2013 by celebrating the arts.
Pittsfield’s First Fridays Artswalk begins its first full year of art shows, openings and events with a guided tour of venues by Artswalk Founder Mary McGinnis at 5 p.m. The tour will start at Gallery 25 (25 Union St.).
The tour will feature some highlights of the January Artswalk, which include opening receptions for the photography collection “Historic Doors of the Berkshires” by Paul H. Hergenrother at The Marketplace Café, a group show of works-in-progress called “Under Construction” at NU Arts Gallery and Studios (formerly known as Art.On.No, at 311 North St.) and Donna Tukel’s solo show of work inspired by Hebrew calligraphy at Treehouse Children’s Boutique.
Other highlights of the Artswalk, which lasts from 5-8 p.m., include artists in the hallway of Crawford Square, Berkshire Carousel ponies on display at Berkshire Medical Center and a large number of continuing art shows at various venues throughout downtown Pittsfield.
Additionally, the Colonial Theatre will have 10 percent-off coupons for Friday night’s concert featuring The David Wax Museum, a band who plays a fusion of traditional Mexican folk with American roots and indie rock. That show begins at 8 p.m., and (full-price) tickets are $10-18.
