Telethon raises $32,500 for UCP

PITTSFIELD – United Cerebral Palsy of Berkshire County has reason to celebrate.

UCP raised $32,500 at a recent telethon, which featured various performers, entertainers and hosts from the community.

“I thought the telethon went very well – the entertainers were amazing and lent their talent in a beautiful way, the hosts were inspiring, the volunteers were plentiful,” UCP Executive Director Christine Singer said. “Our raffle and silent auction brought in close to $2,000 which added great value to our day.

“I particularly saw tremendous growth in the UCP Fun Club Chorus and the UCP Dancers,” she added. “These members really enjoy working hard to showcase their talents and have a great deal of fun at the same time.”

All of the money raised through the telethon will go to local UCP programming.

“[The] funds raised will stay locally to support our underfunded services of basic needs/self-sufficiency programs, children’s programming and assistive technology,” said UCP Executive Director Christine Singer.

UCP is looking to cap-off the money raised at the telethon to bring it to a total of $35,000.

“Our goal is to raise $35,000 by the end of June, and this event got us off to a great start through the support of many business partners and community donors,” Dir. Singer said.
