Time to “Strut Your Stuff” in Lee

LEE – Has the recent storm and the cold temperatures got you singing the blues?

This weekend the Town of Lee and the Lee Chamber of Commerce have the perfect way to shake off the glume of winter, the second annual Lee Cabin Fever Festival.

This year’s festival runs from this Friday (Feb. 15) through Feb. 22.

The weeklong festival takes place during school vacation week and offers fun, free events every day for all ages.

“Lee is taking a creative, low-cost approach to a fun community festival,” said Lee Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Danielle Mullen. “We are turning a historically slow week in February into a unique fun-filled week benefiting shopkeepers and residents alike.”

Ms. Mullen also explained that the mission of the festival is to help Berkshire residents to break out of the mid-winter blues.

Event highlights include a “Strut Your Stuff” bathing suit dash down Main Street followed by awards, downtown merchant festivities, ice sculpting and a snow-sculpting competition for kids.

The “Strut Your Stuff” run has become the cornerstone of the festival, and it starts at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 16).

Registration is being held at the Locker Room Sports Pub beginning at 1 p.m. for those willing to brave the cold. The after-party is being hosted by Arizona Pizza on Park Street.

In the run, participants dash down Main Street in their most festive beachwear to serve as a kick off for the week.

Also there is an Open Mic Night hosted by Berkshire musician Robin O’Herin on Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Later in the festival, on Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m., the new group Roko Dog Park Awareness is hosting a Strut Your Mutt (or Pure Breed) Fashion Show at the Good Purpose Gallery. Proceeds from the event will be used towards the creation of a dog park in Lee.

On the last day of the festival, Feb. 22, the Berkshire Shorts Film Festival returns for a second round of fabulous local independent films by young filmmakers taking place at the Spectrum Playhouse.
