Lenox businesses on the move

LENOX – Local businesses will be on the move this spring.

Peter Alvarez Salon, currently located at 48 Main St., will be moving to a space in the Mole and Mole building sometime between March and April.

“We’re looking to create a nice little boutique,” said Mr. Alvarez, in comments to The Beacon. “It’s going back to basics.”

When asked why he was moving the business, Mr. Alvarez said he wanted to focus on cutting hair, and cutting and coloring could be done with less space.

“We’re mostly haircutters, that’s what we specialize in,” he said. “We can do that in a smaller area.”

Still, while Mr. Alvarez said the business would now be focused primarily on hair cutting, he also said he would keep a makeup boutique at the new location.

The Mole and Mole building isn’t the only space in Lenox that’s going to see a new business open.

The former location of Clearwater Natural Foods on 11 Housatonic St. is currently under renovation and is set to reopen as Lenox Natural Foods.

The owner of this new property will be Spoon owner Danielle Dragonetti, who will manage it with her business partner, brother Jason Dragonetti, with whom she also runs Spoon.

“It’s something I definitely did not want to see lost to this community,” said Ms. Dragonetti when asked why she purchased the space. “The natural products are my forte.”

In terms of the new store’s identity, she said it will be distinct from Spoon.

“We may do the grab and go food from Spoon [there], but the businesses are separate businesses.”

When asked when Lenox Natural Foods would be open, Ms. Dragonetti replied, “As soon as possible.”

“There’s a lot of work to do,” she said. “We were targeting sometime in March.”

As for what shoppers can expect from Lenox Natural Foods, Ms. Dragonetti said it would offer what Clearwater had and then some.

“If you take what Clearwater offered and expanded it in both its products and services, that’s what we’re trying to do,” she said, adding these new products would include produce.
