Heaven’s plan

Girls, how many of you have been in an ever consuming, adventurous, sweet, completely disastrous at times, heartbreaking relationship only to turn around practically the very next day and find that place: the one you were always meant for, the one God and heaven and your NaNa (literally) had planned all along, perhaps even the one written in the stars?

In this place there’s magic, it feels safe and warm and secure both emotionally and financially, so different in a good way, and life just seems to move forward at warped speed.

Before you know it, you’re designing your gown, making your vows, popping out gorgeous babies, having holy communions and graduations and sending those babies off to college and weddings of their own! All while pulling your hair out!

Oh my…haven’t gotten that far yet, but my youngest is making her first communion this weekend, and she’s really happy about it. She is wearing the same white Victorian lace dress her sister wore, with delicate rose-bud sandals that she picked out and a veil topped with a tiny drop-pearl tiara.

Here come the tears… tears of happiness, tears of pride, or are they tears of time?

Time passes far and away until one day, a warm breeze brushes both your cheeks and here you are, ever present under the sacred trees, gently rocking back and forth.

This weekend, my girls called it “Family Day.”

During our travels, my husband and I saw some simple, wooden, yet beautifully crafted outdoor rocking chairs, and in that moment, I had what one would call “a glimpse” of what was to be:

Our hair had grown all gray, bones brittle, skin worn with lines from all the smiles and all the frowns we made. And looking out onto the horizon, sunsets and sunrises, dawns and twilights, we dream of what is good and all we are thankful for, but mostly, we look at each other.

It’s the point in time we realize life was the most valuable because of who we chose to spend it with growing old, growing wise and growing in love. A little mushiness is called for right now, okay? I’m just in one of those moods; after all, love is it, you know?

All love, whether fleeting or forever, is made known in our hearts.

I will stop here and close with one of my favorite songs on my playlist sung by Swedish House Mafia and I think partially written by my mom.

Don’t you worry, don’t you worry child… see heaven’s got a plan for you. Just believe…

And the universe will unfold as it should.

Ciao Bella
