New trustees at Berkshire South

GREAT BARRINGTON – There will be some fresh faces on the Board of Trustees at Berkshire South Regional Community Center.

Joining the board of trustees are Robert Harrison, Rita Kasky and Robert D. Montgomery.

“All three of our newest board members embody the spirit of community and bring talent, expertise and energy to the table. We are very fortunate to have them by our side as we continue to strengthen community in the Southern Berkshires,” said Executive Director Jenise Lucey.

Mr. Harrison, BSRCC’s newest board member, is a registered architect in Massachusetts and holds architectural licenses in Vermont, Connecticut and New York.

He has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2004, the first in Berkshire County, and holds dual degrees in architecture and fine arts from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Prior to establishing Harrison Design Associates, an award-winning architectural design firm in Great Barrington, in 2005, he was the founding principal architect of Blueline Design in Great Barrington from 1991 to 2005.

Mr. Harrison is a currently a board member for the WordxWord Festival in Pittsfield as well as holding the title City Commissioner – Green Commission in Pittsfield.  He has also held board positions for Girls Inc., Berkshire County Historical Society, Berkshire Wildlife Sanctuaries and was a founding board member of the Colonial Theatre Association.

Ms. Kasky was born in New York City and raised in Stamford, Conn. After attending the University of Connecticut, she returned to New York City and entered the field of advertising sales.

That journey began with her enlistment as a VISTA volunteer. Rita’s career in non-profit management and development grew over 40 years working for the following organizations: National Council of Jewish Women, National Foundation for Ileitis and Colitis, Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Cancer Care, Inc., Brandeis University (the New York Regional Development and Alumni Association) and the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge.

From 1996 until her retirement in 2006, she worked as the development and marketing director at Gould Farm.

Ms. Kasky is an active volunteer, holding positions on the board of directors for other non-profits, including Community Access to the Arts (CATA) and Sandisfield Arts Center. She has also volunteered with Volunteers in Medicine, Fairview Hospital and the Town of Sandisfield.

Mr. Montgomery is the Executive Vice President, CFO and part owner of Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, Ltd. in Great Barrington. Prior to Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, he was the vice president of business development for Greenwich Capital Corporation (Greenwich, Conn.) and was the founder and president of Environmental Capital Corporation in Great Barrington.

He has also held vice presidencies at Citocorp and Chemical Bank.

His non-profit work includes being president and founder of Great Barrington Land Conservancy, an organization dedicated to preserving open space, as well as holding positions on the boards for Aston Magna and the Literacy Network of Southern Berkshire.

Mr. Montgomery graduated from the London School of Economics with a MSc in Diplomatic History after serving as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War and being awarded the Bronze Star for Valor.
