WEST STOCKBRIDGE – A low turnout, around 50 voters, came out to approve all 34 articles on the warrant at the West Stockbridge Town Meeting.
A major item for every town meeting is the budget, and this year, the $4,569,526 budget comes from a three percent decrease in spending. The budget like all other items passed with no real discussion.
Of that budget, $2,575,401 is the assessment for the Berkshire Hills Regional School District, a 9.5 percent decrease from the current year. This decrease came from the lowering number of students from the town.
Voters also approved $40,000 for the purchase of a new four-wheel drive police vehicle and to auction off a current 2008 Ford Crown Victoria police cruiser that is being replaced. The police department also received $16,000 to make updates to their software and some equipment.
