A note on our second anniversary

Since the beginning two years ago, we have created two products – The Berkshire Beacon and The Berkshire Sonata.

As publisher, I think we have put forth a product Berkshire County may be proud of, with a young staff who is driven weekly to bringing news, features and good clear photos to you, our readers.

Our editorial package is not a rehash of the old news and it is not put on old newsprint. The news and features are timely and the imprint is on bright white thanks to our printer, The Sun Chronicle in Attleboro.

For your information, this publisher drives to Attleboro to pick up the newspaper weekly which has been designed, laid out and proofread by a dedicated staff.

And on that note, we share with you in this publication our Second Anniversary edition. Our goal is to go forward and expand our news and features county-wide.

There is an ongoing issue, and that is advertising. The businessmen can not survive without advertising because ads bring buyers to your store, who spend money. And you do not make money unless the units in your business are purchased.

Thus, we now need to rely on you our business sector to call us (413-637-2250) so we can help you create an ad that will benefit both of us. In the weeks to come, we hope to have an active website where we can put you on the web to help in partnership to create a newspaper-business community.

The stories that print is dead are over blown. Warren Buffett believes in newspapers, and so do I.

He certainly has a larger portfolio than us small publishers, but we have the guts to merge news and ads weekly and bring potential buyers to your store.

Thus, we look forward to a mutual relationship in our third year of publishing.
