From time to time, we hear the roads in and out of Pittsfield do not meet the needs for possible future industry. This is probably true.
Yet, Pittsfield does not have to go after large industries. The key today is small, compact industries that can use the U.S. Mail, FedEx and/or UPS.
Meanwhile, those in the construction business force to use the highways and byways should consider an alternate plan of transporting. Simply using the Berkshire County roads under the cover of darkness when there is limited traffic on the roads would save a lot of upset drivers.
This also is good citizenship.
Speaking of good citizenship in towns like Lenox and Lee, vendors and purveyors should deliver their goods early in the morning to avoid holding up traffic on small side streets.
