Local athlete named captain of college team
PITTSFIELD – Amanda Waluszko, a 2010 graduate from Pittsfield High School, was named co-captain of the Western New England University women’s soccer team.
“Amanda is a very mature young lady who has really used her leadership skills during the off-season to keep the team focused and ready to compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference,” said Ron Dias, head coach of the Golden Bears.
Waluszko is a two-year starter for the Golden Bears and a center-back defender. Last season, she started 14 games and recorded her first career goal on a direct shot off the corner kick in a 3-0 victory at Husson in September. She’s played in 47 matches for WNE.
As a high school student-athlete, Waluszko was an honor roll student and team captain, aiding the Pittsfield High Generals to successful seasons and postseason berths.
