ADAMS – Historic Bascom Lodge, at the summit of Mount Greylock, is hosting a weekend of special activities and events on July 13-14 in celebration of the lodge’s 75th anniversary.
“It’s going to be a very exciting time on Mt. Greylock as we celebrate a significant milestone in Bascom Lodge’s rich history,” said partners Peter Dudek, John Dudek and Brad Parsons, who together operate Bascom Lodge.
All events and concerts are free, open to the public and family friendly. The festivities kick off on Saturday at 12 p.m. with the raising of a Native American teepee, followed by drumming and a series of talks and demonstrations.
On Sunday afternoon, the lodge will present its first World Jazz Festival, featuring jazz musicians of local, regional, national and international acclaim, from 3-7 p.m.
The weekend’s activities will include the presentation of a special resolution from the Massachusetts House of Representatives in commemoration of the lodge’s 75th anniversary.
The resolution will be presented by State Rep. Gailanne M. Cariddi of the 1st Berkshire District on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the lodge’s lobby.
“We’re honored that the lodge will be recognized with this important resolution from our state representatives on July 13,” Parsons said. “It’s definitely a highlight of what is sure to be an outstanding weekend at Bascom Lodge. We hope lots of people come to join in the fun.”
Rep. Cariddi couldn’t agree more.
“Mt. Greylock is our region’s greatest recreational asset,” she said. “Recognizing this, the commonwealth has continued to make significant capital investments, which highlight the mountain’s summit, Bascom Lodge and recreational features. All of us should enjoy this nearby, valuable resource.”
