“Celestial” backyard décor on-the-cheap

[media-credit id=3 align=”alignright” width=”225″][/media-credit]If you think elegant-looking décor in your backyard is impossible due to lack of money, think again.

While you may not be able to display huge statuary such as that seen in Italy, there are many affordable options available. All it takes is a little creativity and ingenuity.

Take, for example, the angel “grotto” photographed with this article.

The angel came from a local supermarket. The angel’s ugly-looking gray exterior immediately brightened with a couple coats of white paint.

Next came a search for a pedestal on which to place her.

The gardening section of a bargain-priced store had one for less than 20 big ones.

Some mega-strength glue adhered the angel to the pedestal.

Searching for a background mirror came next. A search in a big secondhand store turned up a very heavy, old mirror.

After a bit of verbal bargaining, the price came down from $25 to $20.

Once home, the mirror frame also got a coat of white paint.

Once the mirror hung securely against a backyard fence, next came the angel, placed at an angle.

[media-credit id=3 align=”aligncenter” width=”300″][/media-credit]A small table, rescued from the trash pile, was then set in front of the angel on the pedestal. The table holds a flowering impatiens plant.

Maybe you’ve never contemplated using a mirror outside but it works. Just make sure it’s hung in a place that does not get direct sunlight.

Total cost of the rather stunning (and heavenly) backyard scene was less than $55, thus proving that with a bit of imagination, you can have a backyard adornment that will amaze and delight you and your guests.
