Chamber to host session on Obamacare

WILLIAMSTOWN – The national debate over the Affordable Care Act has again begun to heat up and now an informational session for local businesses has been announced.

The Berkshire Chamber of Commerce will host its next Good News Business Salute breakfast on Wednesday, August 28 at the Williams Inn located at 1090 Main Street in Williamstown from 7:45 to 9:00 a.m.

At this event, Holly Taylor, Vice President at True North, a division of MountainOne Bank, will serve as the keynote speaker and discuss factors affecting the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and what steps local businesses can take to begin preparing for the changes in healthcare coverage requirements.

We are only weeks away from the launch of so-called online health insurance “exchanges” under the Affordable Care Act.

To date, small businesses that offer insurance to employees haven’t felt much impact. But that’s about to change.

Major changes are just around the corner. Beginning later this year, the ACA will require small businesses (those with two to 50 employees) to comply with dozens of provisions that will affect costs, benefits and coverage.

If you’re a small business owner who offers health insurance or is considering it, you need to get up to speed on the law in order to make decisions that are best for you and your company and this event will try and help you do just that.
